2021: Establishment of a fund for investment in military technologies

On February 19, 2021, the Russian Ministry of Defense and Promsvyazbank (PSB) signed an agreement on the creation of an investment fund on the basis of the ERA Military Innovative Technopolis.

The key task of the new project is to finance the projects of the ERA technopolis participants in the field of high technologies of the military-industrial complex at the stage of formation and scaling of innovative industries, as well as their subsequent withdrawal to mass production.

The Fund will provide support at all stages of the implementation of initiative projects: from structuring the transaction to allocating financing and further supporting projects.

The Russian Defense Ministry is creating a fund for investing in military technologies on the basis of the ERA Military Innovative Technopolis

Within the framework of the agreement, the PSB plans to conduct educational programs for employees of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, employees of enterprises of the military-industrial complex and organizations participating in the implementation of the state defense order (GOZ) on the territory of the ERA technopolis, including on the topics of diversifying the defense industry and supporting the GOZ. In addition, PSB intends to provide technopolis participants with a range of services to promote high-tech products in the field of defense.

The interaction of the Main Directorate with the reference bank of the PSB military-industrial complex introduces positive aspects in the development of scientific research in the interests of strengthening the country's defense. The implementation of promising projects using the funds of the ERA Military Innovative Technopolis Fund will bring to a new level the introduction and development of innovative and promising developments, both in the interests of the Russian Ministry of Defense and in the interests of the civilian sector of the economy, "said Major General Andrei Goncharov, head of the Main Directorate of Research and Technological Support of Advanced Technologies of the Russian Ministry of Defense.

The PSB noted that the creation of an investment fund is part of the bank's strategy for the development of non-bank services in the field of analytics, consulting and directly financing defense industry projects through the fund.^[1]
