The project started in the fall of 2015. Founders of the project Yury Kushpel and Anton Elikov — entrepreneurs from Yekaterinburg with experience of development and deployment of information systems for integrated management of retail and internal accounting in large retail chain stores. In November, 2015 the Merkata project became the prize-winner of the tender Web&Tech Ready 2015 in the Mobile Technologies nomination — the solution was highly appreciated by experts of tender and the right to a minigrant of Skolkovo Foundation in the amount of 4 million rubles. In April, 2016 the startup received the status of the resident of an IT cluster of Skolkovo Foundation.

The Merkata project is a "smart" cash desk for small retail stores which automates not only processes in shop, but also commodity distribution chains. Merkat is the cash desk based on Android (shortly and on Windows) and the cloud system of merchandising (back office). In a system it is possible to keep the main reference books (goods, the prices, employees, shops, etc.) and to see result of activity of shop: what goods make the main contribution to revenue, to what time of day what goods are on sale, etc.

Obtaining resident status Skolkovo allowed founders to accelerate process of work on the project and in time to implement in Merkat a possibility of returns and unloading of information for declarations. In the conditions of promptly changing legislation, quick reaction and speed of development are of particular importance.

2017: Merkata. Smart cash desk and OFD Platform: partnership by the principle of "single window"

Fiscal data operator OFD Platform and Merkata. Smart cash desk agreed in the summer of 2017 about cooperation. It will allow entrepreneurs and to the companies passing to a new order of trade to buy online cash desk complete with services OFD.

2016

No Merkat there was away from implementation of the Unified State Automated Information System (the Unified State Automated Information System of accounting of production volumes and sale of alcoholic products). The company proposed to the market the free solution. Since the beginning of 2016 the user base of service increased by 100 times and exceeded 10 thousand shops. 4 months were required to a command of Merkata to receive a share in 1.5% of the market of the Russian retail. The interests of the company in regions are represented already by more than 40 partners.

By own estimates of the company, the "smart" cash desk, increases revenue of shop from 10 to 30-40% of a gain of profit of outlet — due to increase in turnover of the money made in goods due to lack of gaps on shelves and other factors.

Merkat is on sale on a subscription which includes now both the software, and technical support (shops need to purchase the necessary equipment in property). Support is given both far off, and on site to operation.

Regarding functional development of the project developers place emphasis on opportunities which will help owners of shops to hold their business "afloat", to make it steadier. In organizational plans — building of a partner network. Also by the end of the year the company will release own cash desk, and not software, namely the equipment. Developers promise that it will be full assembly production in the territory of Russia.
