NFWare is a Russian startup founded in 2014 on the basis of the Center for Applied Research of Computer Networks. He is developing network software based on NFV (network function virtualization) and SDN (software-defined networks) technologies, which allow partially transferring the functions of the network infrastructure to the virtual environment.

NFWare has created a solution that moves the network infrastructure of telecommunications companies to the cloud and allows you to run various operator services on a single set of "iron." The company says its decisions challenge major international vendors such as Cisco and Huawei.

NFWare network products are intended for operators, data centers and Internet companies. They are delivered to both Russian and foreign customers. In the first two years since its inception, several Telefonica Mail.Ru Group European operators have become NFWare customers.

History

2021: Attracting $1.4 million of investments

Startup NFWare, a developer ON for virtualizations network functions, announced on January 14, 2021 that it had TAdviser raised $1.4 million from an international group of investors, including Softline Venture Partners Plug and Play Ventures and business angels from Google Research. Existing investors -, and - Sistema VC Almaz Capital Maxfield Capital supported the round.

The company will direct the funds raised to expand the product line for processing network traffic. The company plans to introduce products on the market as early as 2021.

NFWare is developing virtual network solutions for telecom operators and Internet companies. They can handle a lot of traffic, while working on standard servers, including in virtual or cloud environments. NFWare products can scale quickly in response to the growth of user queries and, according to developers, require up to 10 times less hardware resources than products from market leaders Cisco, Juniper, Huawei, Nokia, Ericsson.

Virtual CGNAT's flagship solution can handle large amounts of traffic - up to 240 Gb/s. on one server. The solution is based on the patented NFWare technology MultiCore Network Stack, which allows you to achieve high speed traffic processing on standard servers.

Global traffic in the mobile segment alone grew by 50% in 2020, which provoked interest in NFWare technology around the world. Among the company's customers are two of ten international mobile operators, telecom operators in the USA, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. In Russia, the company's customers for January 2021 are Tinkoff Mobile and Mail.Ru Group.

2017: Investment of $2 million from AFK Sistema and a number of venture funds

The venture fund of AFK Sistema Vladimir Yevtushenkov - Sistema Venture Capital - in March 2017 announced that it had invested in NFWare, acting as a lead investor in this round of financing. Venture funds with Russian roots Almaz Capital, Maxfield Capital and one of the world's largest telecom operators Telefonica also invested in the company. The investment consultant of the round was the Skolkovo technopark, of which NFWare is a resident.

The total investment amounted to $2 million. The volume of investments from each investor and shares acquired at the round are not disclosed.

Following Europe, NFWare plans to develop the US market

NFWare intends to spend the funds received on its development and expansion of its presence in Europe, as well as on entering the US market.

NFWare offered the market a technologically elegant and efficient solution with which it is possible to significantly reduce the costs of companies and at the same time increase the speed of traffic processing, he says.

According to the research company Analysys Mason Group, which is cited by Sistema Venture Capital, according to the results of 2016, the market for network infrastructure virtualization solutions (NFV) amounted to $2.4 billion. By 2023, it can reach $29 billion.

2015

NFWare raised $500,000

In October 2015, NFWare announced the attraction of $500 thousand as sowing investments. The investment was made by a group of investors led by Maxfield Capital. Almaz Capital Partners and the Spanish telecommunications company Telefonica took part in the round.
