In the Rostov region, the Novocherkassk Higher Military Command School of Communications will be reopened, which was confirmed by the Russian government by approving the corresponding order. This became known at the end of August 2024. The decision to create an educational institution is aimed at increasing the output of highly qualified liaison officers, which is associated with an increase in the number of the country's armed forces.

According to Interfax, the first recruitment of cadets in the school is planned to be held in 2026. The educational institution will annually produce more than 1.1 thousand specialists in the field of communications. Among the areas of training are special-purpose radio communication systems, satellite communications, special-purpose communication networks, as well as the operation of automated systems. At the end of the five-year training course, graduates are awarded the military rank of lieutenant and the qualification of an engineer with a state-issued diploma.

The Novocherkassk School of Communications will be located in the historical "Red Barracks" - the buildings of the cadet corps of the Donskoy Army. After the reconstruction, the administrative and educational building will be located here. Also, a training and laboratory building, a sports hall and other necessary facilities will be built near the barracks. Additionally, near Novocherkassk, it is planned to create a modern field educational and material base for practical training of cadets.

The Higher Military Command School of Communications has a rich history. It was founded in Novocherkassk in 1964 after redeployment from Murom, Vladimir Region. Over the years, the school has trained more than 15 thousand officers. However, the institution was closed in 2011. The resumption of its activities will allow training of qualified personnel in the field of military communications to ensure the security of the country.[1]
