Liquefied gas
In November, 2012 it became known that the head of the agency on investments of Ukraine Vladislav Kaskiv signed agreements on cooperation within the project of construction of the LNG terminal with the American company Excelerate Energy and the Spanish Gas Natural Fenosa. Along with agreement signature there took place the official ceremony of the beginning of construction of the first part of the national project "LNG terminal" - the pipeline which will connect the terminal to the gas transmission system of Ukraine.
Earlier it was reported that the foreign companies intend to supply the equipment for the LNG terminal in the port of Yuzhny in Odessa region. For acceptance of a liquefied gas it was supposed to place floating platform.
The project of the terminal was approved in August, 2012, and the feasibility statement was developed by the Spanish company Socoin entering into the Gas Natural Fenosa group at the beginning of 2012. Power of the terminal will be at the level of 10 billion cubic meters a year.
The share of the state in the project will make 25 percent, the rest will be provided by private companies among which were called Lazard investment fund, Conlan & Associates company and also Gazprombank. The cost of construction is 856 million euros. It is expected that the project will be put into operation at the end of 2015.
Ukraine intends to reduce significantly due to LNG import dependence on purchase of gas in Russia. In 2011 the country bought 44.8 billion cubic meters in the Russian Federation.
By words Kaskiva, the cost of gas which will be bought by Ukraine via the LNG terminal will be at least 20 percent lower than the Russian price. According to Interfax, it added that now Ukraine conducts negotiations with several potential suppliers at once and selects the best conditions and the prices[1].
