The Ural state legal university (URGYUU) — the federal state-funded educational institution of the higher education located in the city of Yekaterinburg. Earlier carried the name the Ural state legal academy (URGYUA).

History
2014
Federal state-funded educational institution of higher education "Ural state legal academy" is renamed by the order of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation of April 22, 2014 No. 396 into Federal State Budgetary Institution of the higher education "Ural state legal university". For 2014 a founder of FSBEI IN "UrGYuU" is the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.
2011
By the order of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation of May 19, 2011 No. 1666 it was renamed into Federal state-funded educational institution of higher education "Ural state legal academy".
1981-1992
The Sverdlovsk legal institute of R.A. Rudenko was awarded the order by the decree of Presidium of the Supreme Council of the USSR of June 11, 1981 No. 5037-X the Labour Red Banner. On the basis of Orders of the Ministry of the higher and secondary vocational education of the USSR of June 19, 1981 No. 649, the Ministry of the higher and secondary vocational education of RSFSR of June 30, 1981 No. 353-1 the Sverdlovsk legal institute of R.A. Rudenko began to hereinafter be referred to as the Sverdlovsk legal institute of R.A. Rudenko which the Order of the Ministry of science, the higher school and technical policy of the Russian Federation of December 24, 1992 No. 1133 was renamed into the Ural state legal academy of an award of the Labour Red Banner.
1954-1962
The order of the Minister of the higher education of the USSR of December 17, 1954 No. 1235 to the Sverdlovsk legal institute appropriated a name of A.Ya. Vyshinsky. On the basis of the Order of the Minister of the higher and secondary vocational education of January 16, 1962 No. 43 the Sverdlovsk legal institute of A.Ya. Vyshinsky began to hereinafter be referred to as the Sverdlovsk legal institute.
1931-1936
The Faculty of the Soviet construction and right of the Irkutsk state university was transformed by the resolution of Presidium of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee of RSFSR of April 20, 1931 to the Siberian institute of the Soviet right which was transferred by the Order of the National Commissariat of Justice of RSFSR of July 10, 1934 No. 307 and the Resolution of Council of People's Commissars of RSFSR of August 1, 1934 No. 699 from Irkutsk to Sverdlovsk. The Siberian institute of the Soviet right was renamed by the resolution of the Central Executive Committee and Council of People's Commissars of the USSR of March 5, 1935 No. 2/389 into the Sverdlovsk legal institution which was renamed by the resolution of the National Commissariat of Justice of RSFSR of July 3, 1936 into the Sverdlovsk legal institute.
1918
The university was created on September 15, 1918 by the Resolution of Council of Ministers of the Siberian government of April 26, 1919 as law department (later renamed into faculty of the Soviet construction and the right) as a part of the Irkutsk state university.
