State Russian Museum

The State Russian Museum is one of the world's largest museums and the only one in Russia where the treasures of Russian culture are so fully represented. Today, the museum collection has more than 400 thousand exhibits of the XI-XXI centuries. The museum collection contains paintings, graphics, sculpture and works of decorative and applied art.

History

2022: Removal of the entire collection from the branch in Malaga after the outbreak of the conflict in Ukraine

According to the publication, Museo Ruso - a branch of the Russian Museum in Malaga - was on the verge of closure due to the decision to take its entire collection back to Russia in May 2022. According to the director of Museo Ruso, interaction with the St. Petersburg museum was interrupted due to hostilities in Ukraine and the only way to survive is to exhibit the work of private collectors.

At the end of the year, the British Jenny Green, who has been collecting Russian art for 20 years, came to the aid of the museum. The museum will exhibit 76 works of Russian artists belonging to it: Alexei Venetsianov, Ivan Aivazovsky, Ilya Repin, Valentin Serov, Vasily Kandinsky, Zinaida Serebryakova, Mikhail Larionov, Natalya Goncharova and others. Green's collection will be shown for the first time.

2014: Opening an online store

In July 2014, the opening of the museum's online store took place - the next important step towards the popularization of Russian fine art. The store's website was developed on the 1C-Bitrix platform. The online store allows connoisseurs of Russian fine art to join the masterpieces of the collection of the Russian Museum, ordering goods with their image with home delivery. The project was implemented by the non-profit partnership Virtual Russian Museum, EPOS Group CJSC and the Internet agency Infospais with financial support from AFK Sistema.

2003: Launch of the project "Russian Museum: Virtual Branch"

Since 2003, to implement the idea of ​ ​ accessibility of the museum's collection to the widest audience outside St. Petersburg, the international project "Russian Museum: Virtual Branch" has been actively developing. As of July 2014, more than 150 information and educational centers were opened throughout Russia and abroad at the sites of museums, universities, libraries. The media library of each branch gives access to more than 300 programs and films about the history of Russian culture and the collection of the Russian Museum.
