Two billion rubles were additionally allocated from the budget of St. Petersburg

As it became known to Fontanka [1] at the end of December, the St. Petersburg construction committee signed a contract with OJSC Metrostroy for the completion of the stadium on December 29 without a competition.

Two billion rubles under the contract were paid to the general contractor for the construction of Zenit Arena in advance.

Additional funds, explained in the city administration, will be spent on the arrangement of the stadium access control zone, as well as on the preparation of Zenit Arena for the Confederations Cup and the 2018 World Cup. The work is scheduled to be completed in March 2017.

The total estimate of the project, representatives of the city administration emphasized, remained the same - 42 billion rubles.

The authorities of St. Petersburg plan to return the additionally spent funds later, collecting them through the court from the former general contractor for the construction of the Transstroy stadium.

Rostekhnadzor issued a positive opinion on Zenit Arena

The North-West Directorate of Rostekhnadzor issued a conclusion at the end of the year on the compliance of the St. Petersburg Krestovsky stadium (Zenit Arena) with the requirements of technical regulations and design documentation. The conclusion was issued based on the results of the inspection of building structures, engineering and safety systems. Particular attention was paid to how much the stadium meets the requirements of energy efficiency.

2015

On December 1, 2015, the working name of the arena is "a football stadium in the western part of Krestovsky Island," its own has not yet been selected. During the construction process, the names Zenit and Gazprom Arena were mentioned, since it was assumed that the St. Petersburg football club Zenit and the sponsor Gazprom would take a financial part in the construction of the stadium, however, financing is carried out exclusively from the city budget. The name question is open.

It is planned to transfer the stadium to operation in May 2016.

Management company

As of December 12, 2015, a management company has not yet been determined for the construction. According to the statement of the vice-governor of St. Petersburg Igor Albin, which he did on October 29, 2015 for the media, this will happen before the end of 2015.
