2018: Global headquarters opened in Singapore
In November 2018, it became known about the plans of Group-IB to open a global headquarters in Singapore as part of international expansion. This was reported by the Reuters news agency with reference to the co-founder and CEO of the company Ilya Sachkov.
According to him, Group-IB has chosen the right time to open an office in Singapore, scheduled for late 2018 or early 2019.
It's Asia's financial hub and our business is booming in Asia. Singapore became the first country to buy our products. In addition, the headquarters of the cybercrime division of Interpol, with which we cooperate, is located in Singapore, - said Sachkov, adding that for business growth it must be global. |
The new Group-IB headquarters in Singapore will have units that already exist in the Moscow office - a computer forensics laboratory and malicious code research, an information security incident investigation department, a 24-hour monitoring and incident response department, and other departments.
Group-IB intends to preserve the main development of technologies in the Moscow office. Only 15 out of more than 300 Group-IB employees will leave for Singapore. The remaining 75 people of the new office, in accordance with the legislation of the country, must be hired in the local market.
Over the course of several years, Group-IB plans to invest about $30 million in the development of cybercrime infrastructure in Southeast Asia. This region, according to the company's own data, brings it about 30% of international revenue.
The company calls Southeast Asia the most actively attacked region by hackers. So, in just a year, the activity of 21 APT groups was recorded in it, which is more than in the USA and Europe, indicated in Group-IB.[1]
