The service of Multifon was started in 2009. Then MegaFon became the first-ever operator who entered VoIP market. "Multifon" allows to make voice and video calls on the Internet, including long-distance and international, to use to exchange the SMS and MMS messages and to communicate in a chat. At the same time, calls are made from the phone number of the subscriber of MegaFon, and their payment is made from its mobile account. Distinctive feature of Multifon is an opportunity to call on the Internet even to those subscribers at whom the service is not set – they accept a call as normal phone call.
In 2010 its portable version – the USB device for connection to the computer, and a bit later - mobile versions for Android, Simbian and iOS was released. In 2012 there was a Multifon-Business service which will allow to unroll quickly office automatic telephone exchange and to cut down expenses on telephone communication, and the WEB CLIENT. Subscribers of MegaFon through special applications, for the PC and popular mobile platforms, or the browser can make calls on the Internet. It is possible to use service worldwide where there is an Internet access.
For November, 2013 more than one million subscribers of MegaFon use Multifon service to communicate with friends and relatives without excess costs. In parallel also amounts of consumption of service grow: the quantity of calls within service for the first three quarters 2013 increased twice in comparison with the same period of last year.

Development of service
The basis is Teligent RCS Communicator
Specialists of Teligent company developed multifunction service based on the solution Teligent RCS Communicator. Project implementation was carried out in several steps. Within the first stage all functional parts of service were developed: SMS/MMS, convergence of VoIP and GSM (SIP2SIP, SIP-IN, SIP-OUT), video call (SIP2SIP), online and offline tariffing.
At the second stage work on integration of the convergent solution Teligent RCS Communicator with architecture elements into networks of the operator was carried out.
The next stage included development of cross-platform clients for OS Windows, Linux and Mac OS, the mobile client for the smartphones working based on Symbian S60 and Android. Later the client was developed for iOS and the WEB COMMUNICATOR.
Development of various clients gives the chance to users of Multifon to provide access to service by method, convenient for them, via the personal computer or phone. At the same time, thanks to observance of standards and specifications, a server part is capable to work practically with any third-party SIP client.
On it development of the project did not stop, in the new Multifona version integrated with trava.ru online store there will be an opportunity to make purchases directly from the client, paying them from the mobile account.
The multifunctionality of service is provided with the innovation solution architecture, a broad set of components and flexible opportunities for integration into the equipment, the systems of the operator and third-party producers.
The Multifon platform consists of several key components.
SIP Core Application Server(s) is the central node providing processing, correct routing and control of the connected services of all SIP traffic of the platform.
SIP SMS/MMS Gateway is the program gateway for converting of data from SIP in standard SMPP3.4 and MM7 protocols for ensuring transfer of the SMS and MMS of messages.
SM (Subscription Manager) is the website server providing initial registration of users and management of subscriptions to SIP Core services.
IM-SSF – the IMS server providing functions of the gateway to the SCP nodes of the Intelligent Network of Communication (ISS, IN) of the operator by means of the standard INAP/CAP(2,3,4) protocols for it-lan tariffings of SIP subscribers means of traditional GSM network.
WEBN (WEB Node>) and FMN (Future Media Node) – nodes of authorization, processing of signaling information and converting of multimedia of flows (RTMP) for interaction with VoIP (SIP/RTP) network for a full-fledged work of web applications in the telecommunication environment.
Besides, the Multifon platform is closely integrated with the complex of the Teligent IN Framework platforms providing convergent services of an intelligent network of communication of the operator and also with the NeuStar IMPS platform (Instant Messaging and Presence) for ensuring functions of instant messaging between users of the platform and presence statuses, displays of avatars, search of contacts, consolidation of contacts on groups and storages of contacts on the server.
For ensuring broadcast of the signaling messages SIP in messages of the ISUP protocol (including PRI Q.931) and media flows of RTP in standard TDM network uses the equipment PSTN-Gateway Dialogic IMG1010.
As normal boundary inter-network equipment for traffic handling of SIP SBC (Session Boarder Controller) of AcmePacket is used.
The project became the Russia's first integration of an environment of SIP and ample opportunities of IN network of the operator of mobile communication with full control of all communications and online tariffing of such services.
Web client
Especially for subscribers of MegaFon the MegaLabs company developed the Web client of Multifon service. Clients of the operator can make any calls (voice and video, long-distance and international) via the browser.
The popular service "Multifon" became available in the WEB format – the client - http://multifon.ru/web-client/. Call on profitable rates, even in roaming, subscribers of MegaFon can directly from the browser, without loading of the application. The service allows to make audio and video calls to users of Multifon on the computer or the smartphone, to call on any phone numbers and to receive incoming calls.

For the first time the Multifon service was started at the federal level in 2010. The audience of its users exceeds 500,000 people now. Possibilities of service were highly appreciated not only by subscribers who aim to save, without losing communication quality, but also corporate clients for the organization of office telephony without leading of a telephone cable and purchase of the additional hardware. Service is available in a format of the updated application to the mobile phone (Android and iOS), applications for the computer (Windows, Mac, Linux) and the WEB CLIENT.
At high quality of communication Multifon allows to save significantly on calls, tariffing remains even in roaming. Calls to other users of Multifon are free, the call costs to any subscriber of MegaFon from the application 80 kopeks a minute, and to the subscriber of other Russian operator – 1.5 rubles a minute. All calls and also the SMS and MMS of the message which are put in order through Multifon are paid from the key mobile account of the subscriber, so, there is no need to place money by other methods.
