2025: Sentence - 18 years in prison for triple murder in Cyprus

In January 2025, the Primorsky District Court of St. Petersburg sentenced ex-State Duma deputy Mikhail Glushchenko, convicting him for 18 years for a triple murder in Cyprus in 2004. Taking into account the previous sentence, the term of imprisonment was 24 years. Glushchenko was accused of the murder of businessman Vyacheslav Shevchenko, his partner Yuri Zorin and translator Victoria Tretyakova. He was initially detained on charges of extortion and blackmail. Earlier, the jury found the ex-deputy guilty and not deserving of leniency.
