2025: Appointment as Prime Minister of Ukraine
In July 2025, the Verkhovna Rada approved the candidacy of Yulia Sviridenko for the post of Prime Minister of Ukraine. 262 deputies voted for her. Sviridenko, who from 2021 was First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and in May 2025 concluded a deal on rare earth metals with the United States, will replace Denis Shmygal, who led him for more than five years, at the head of the Cabinet. According to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the priority of the new government is its own arms production and the development of defense projects together with partners.[1]
