2026: Service Launch
On February 9, 2026, the Chinese technology company Baidu launched the BaiduWiki service, an international version of its online encyclopedia Baidu Baike, designed to become a competitor to Wikipedia. According to the description, BaiduWiki contains 1 million articles in five languages: English, Spanish, French, Russian and Japanese. The translation of materials is carried out using several artificial intelligence agents. The original Baidu Baike encyclopedia, launched in 2008, is among the largest such resources: as of January 2026, it had more than 30 million articles. The service is available at the link.
