2021: Start of deliveries
In mid-November 2021, it became known about the supply of new AK-12 assault rifles, known as Superkalashnikov, to the Pacific Marines (Pacific Fleet) and the Black Sea Fleets (Black Sea Fleet).
As Izvestia writes with reference to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the AK-12 is designed in such a way that any surveillance devices, laser target indicators or flashlights can be installed on it. In addition, a number of other modifications are available for it, among which may be an additional front handle or a sub-barrel grenade launcher. The butt of the weapon is easily folded if necessary.
According to the developers, the machine has increased accuracy of shooting, barrel survivability and improved ergonomics. It has three firing modes: single, automatic and two-shot cut-off queue. A removable muzzle compensator brake is installed on the weapon, it is possible to install a low-noise and flameless firing device. The butt is folding adjustable in length, on the receiver there is a Picatinny bar.
A new model was developed as part of the Ratnik program to create equipment that at times increases the combat effectiveness of units. It includes more than 10 different subsystems - from reconnaissance equipment, thermal imagers and sights to new small arms and body armor.
The kit includes the Sagittarius intelligence, control and communications complex, which includes means of communication, targeting, information processing and identification. With it, commanders can receive information from each fighter and track the course of clashes in real time.
According to military expert Vladislav Shurygin, the new machine is light, balanced and has a well-worked recoil system. The AK-12 retained the reliable mechanical part of the classic Kalashnikov, but received improvements that sharply increased its combat capabilities, he added.[1]
