2025: Messenger Launch

Kazakhstan initiated a large-scale introduction of the domestic messenger Aitu in state structures, starting with a phased transition of the country's armed forces to a national platform for transmitting official information. The decision to transfer the military department to its own communications system was made on behalf of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and is aimed at minimizing the risks of using foreign platforms. This became known on August 18, 2025.

According to Kommersant, the Ministry of Defense of the republic announced the start of a phased introduction of a national messenger for the exchange of official data within the military structure. The department justifies the transition by the need to ensure complete control over information flows in the army.

National messenger Aitu launched in Kazakhstan

Representatives of the Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan emphasize that the Aitu messenger is under the jurisdiction of the republic and fully complies with national requirements for the storage and processing of confidential data. This approach eliminates the potential risks of information leakage through foreign communication platforms.

The full transition of the armed forces to the domestic communications system is planned to be completed by the end of 2025. The new platform will be used for a wide range of tasks, including the rapid exchange of information between units and the holding of service meetings in digital format.

Deputy Minister of Defense of Kazakhstan Darkhan Akhmediev noted that the transition of the military department to Aitu will completely eliminate the possibility of service data leakage. According to him, the use of the national platform will ensure the reliable protection of confidential military information.

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in August 2025 instructed the government to transfer all state communications related to the processing of personal data of citizens to the national messenger Aitu. The head of state believes that the authorities are obliged to be responsible for the general level of digital security in the country.[1]
