2020: Start of A365 Viewer based on a cloud platform of Altium 365

On March 5, 2020 the Altium Limited company announced start of the cloud applicaion which reinterprets a method of a project interchange of printed circuit boards between designers, suppliers of components and producers.

According to the statement of the developer, A365 Viewer based on a cloud platform of Altium 365 is an innovation method of viewing and exchange of electronic projects via the browser on any computer, phone or the tablet with support of the web interface. Schemes, constructions of printed circuit boards and 3D - visualization ensure interactive functioning of a CAD without the need for its loading or installation. A365 Viewer is a part of the Altium 365 platform and the cloud strategy of Altium.

Type of the project in A365 Viewer

As noted in Altium, earlier designers were forced to share the projects of printed circuit boards, using PDF-files or freeze frame images. Thanks to A365 Viewer an interactive environment where key project information which is usually lost at exchange of static files is available is created. For example, A365 Viewer allows users to look for, select, to cross investigate components and chains, at the same time freely to move between schemes, the printed circuit board and 3D - visualization.

Use of A365 Viewer does not require the CAD tools or experience of their use. A365 Viewer is intended for work with several formats of an electronic CAD and as of March, 2020 supports Autodesk Eagle and Altium Designer. Other popular formats of the software for design of printed circuit boards, according to the developer, will be supported in the near future.

According to the developer, thanks to the presented solution an interactive CAD-focused of visualization of projects, including schemes, payments, 3D and structure of a product are available via the browser on any device with the web interface. Anyone can build in Viewer on the website free of charge.

"Altium 365 Viewer considerably increased convenience of work with documentation on products on our website. Users of Arduino can freely browse schemes, constructions and even 3D models of printed circuit boards and the modules Arduino on the Internet, without need to load or set something else. Independence of Altium 365 Viewer from any of the CAD platforms will allow us to add Altium 365 Viewer on the page of each product, including those products which were created in Autodesk Eagle",

A365 Viewer protects copyright of project owners, saving at the same time project data using the process called by Published Design Impression (PDI). Viewer processes initial design data for creation of PDI which represents the picture of the project saving limited data on components, the connectivity of chains and basic geometry except for primitive data which will be required for complete judgment and author's changes of the scheme, emphasized in Altium.

Initial design data are used only for the purpose of creation of PDI, then they are at once destroyed. The project is available during all online session and automatically is removed when closing a tab of the browser, the solution designer noted.

2019: Release of Altium 365 Viewer

Altium 365 Viewer is means which simplifies viewing files of the Altium Designer projects.

On July 16, 2019 Altium Limited company, the developer in the field of design automation of electronic devices, announced release of Altium Designer 19.1 and Altium 365 Viewer, free online means which allows to browse the Altium Designer projects in the web browser. Read more here.

2018: Announcement of a cloud platform of Altium 365

On October 16, 2018 the Altium Limited company announced release of a cloud platform of Altium 365.

Altium 365 allows developers to transfer working schemes and 3D - projects of printed circuit boards to manufacturers who, in turn, can comment and add a note in real time, using only the web browser that provides to developers an opportunity in real time to receive a comment about suitability of the project for production by the available equipment. It accelerates process of transition from the concept of the project to production of a payment.

Altium 365 simplifies synchronization of design of a product and its production. The developer just provides access to the project to the production partner, and this partner will be able to interact with the project from any device and any operating system and also will help the developer with the choice of the correct solution guaranteeing a possibility of production of a payment.

Pricing and availability of components — one more widespread problem which slows down product development. Altium 365 working at the Octopart platform provides relevant communication between structure of a product and data on components to help developers to use such components which meet the requirements for costs, availability and runtime.

It is important, but only the first step to implementation of our vision which will help to transform electronic industry — Ted Pawela, the chief executive of Altium noted. — Altium 365 will provide direct link in real time between the project, a supply chain, specialists and the equipment on production for achievement of it.

Altium 365 provides a number of program services which will be available equally simply both through Altium Designer, and from any web browser. They include the tools simplifying cooperation from a project development stage before production, providing relevance of information on a supply chain of components, implementing management of libraries and joint design of ECAD/MCAD. Besides, Altium 365 provides to clients of Altium the simplified management tools software licenses, subscriptions and accounts of users.[1]
