2024: Product Announcement
In early January 2024, the American startup LifeSpan announced the Ampera exercise bike with an electric generator function. This device is able to charge laptops and gadgets while pedaling, and therefore it can be used, for example, to organize remote work where power outages can be observed.
The novelty is a kind of hybrid of a computer chair and a sports outfit. The device does not have a traditional stop in the front, so it can be pulled close to the desktop. At the same time, the wheels in the support provide good maneuverability, which makes it easy to change location. The pedals have integrated LED backlight with a choice of 12 colors. In addition, the developer talks about a comfortable seat.
At the top of LifeSpan is a 15W wireless charging pad for a smartphone or smart wristwatch (Qi technology supported). In addition, there is a USB Type-C port that allows you to transfer up to 65 W of power to a laptop located on a table. The exercise bike is equipped with a Bluetooth 5.0 controller. LifeSpan allows you to simultaneously work, charge your portable devices and get rid of excess weight. The developer says that a person weighing 70kg when "driving" at 20km/h can burn an average of 500-600 calories per hour.
Through the accompanying mobile application, you can view various statistics. This is data on speed, distance traveled, generated electricity, etc. In the future, this information can help optimize the work/training process. The simulator measures 640 × 480 × 834 mm and weighs 31 kg. The maximum load is 150 kg. Height adjustment is allowed. As of the beginning of January 2024, the price is approximately $1000.[1]
