Cisco ME 3800X

Cisco ME 3800X is a series of universal full-function switches of aggregation Metro Ethernet which are developed for application in the networks servicing mobile and wire subscribers of the private and corporate sector. Thanks to high scalability on number of services, low power consumption and compactness (height of the device is all 1RU) the switch is the cost-efficient fixed platform for the Metro Ethernet nodes of aggregation of the small and medium size and also for remote carrying out of points of presence of the telecom operator. The ME 3800X series expands the existing line of Metro Ethernet devices of aggregation of Cisco consisting of Cisco 7600 and ASR 9000 routers, providing wide L2 VPN-and L3 VPN functionality. The Cisco switches ME 3800X are issued in the following hardware configuration: 24 Gigabit Ethernet SFP ports and two ports 10 Gigabit Ethernet SFP+.

Switches have two slots for installation of the power supplies supporting reservation 1:1 and a possibility of hot swap. They are developed taking into account requirements imposed to the device of aggregation of Metro Ethernet networks. Switches are optimized for application on portable nodes and nodes of aggregation of the small and medium size, i.e. on those sections of network where the full-function, but compact device of aggregation is required. Cisco ME 3800X devices provide support of services of both second, and third (IP) of levels and also MPLS transport for the organization of such services as L2 VPN, L3 VPN and Multicast.

Being constructed on the basis of specially developed Cisco Carrier Ethernet ASIC processor, switches of the ME 3800X series do possible not blocked switching and performance at a speed of interfaces for all the ports. The Cisco Carrier Ethernet ASIC processor allows to perform all necessary Carrier Ethernet functions without reduction of performance. As the Cisco switches ME 3800X support a large number of queues (up to 32,000) and the developed intellectual QoS functions (for example, three-level hierarchical QoS), the company Task maybe from now on to provide high quality of service of a great number of the subscribers.
