2020: Ducati began production of the first-ever motorcycles about a cruise control of Ducati Multistrada V4
At the beginning of October, 2020 it became known that the Italian company Ducati began production of "the first-ever motorcycle equipped with the front and back radar". The company worked with Bosch over a radar system which allows Multistrada V4 to help the driver during the movement.
Each radar weighs 190 g and reaches the size an action camera therefore a system will not add to the motorcycle of too big weight or dimensions the Front radar the cruise control, working at speeds from 30 to 160 km/h is responsible for function adaptive, and the back radar is focused on detection of cars in a blind zone and warning of it of the driver of the motorcycle. For example, a system can notify the driver on a situation when cars come nearer at great speed.
The first radar which size is 70 x 60 mm is located under the block of headlights, the second is under a stoplight. Managing electronics of the partner in development of the Bosch vehicle accepts signals from radars and controls motion speed in the mode a cruise control as though it was done by the driver, using possibilities of the brake system, i.e. using the servo actuators ABS and an electronic throttle. The driver can select the distance supported by the vehicle through settings. Available several modes, up to driving with a speed of 160 km/h. The system provided to Ducati can be applied both at the movement on the highway, and when driving in group.
Ducatti did not begin to disclose many details about Multistrada V4, except for the fact that development has "the new, easy and compact V4 engine". The company did not submit the photo of new motorcycles about a cruise control yet. For the first time the product Multistrada V4 will be shown to public on November 4, 2020.[1]
