Functionality of a system

Accounting of the equipment and display of topology

Entuity automatically collects detailed information on the equipment connected to network, communications between network devices, servers, applications - significantly more complete, than the elementary accounting information collected by many other products. Information on network interface cards, power supplies, processors, memory, fans, sensors of temperature and other modules of devices is always on-line accessible. Detailed information on devices, ports and communications allows to reveal reserves and to reduce excess equipment costs. In view of accounting of communications at 2, 3 and 4 levels, Entuity identifies the available communications between devices. servers and applications, displaying topology on the card that allows users more quickly and to effectively reveal influence of failures on other objects and to prioritize problems. Access to the cards which are automatically created by a system with topology of objects is an integrated part of the web interface, and does not require anything, except the web browser. Change of the status of elements and communications between them is displayed by change of their color on the card. Cards are interactive, - having selected an element on the card, it is possible to obtain the additional detailed information on it.

Monitoring of availability and failures

Entuity monitors network devices and interfaces in real time, providing exact and up-to-date information. It allows service of operation to obtain information on degradation, failures and network failures in time before they have significant effect on business services. To minimize "noise" and to pay attention only to important data, the Entuity Root Cause Analysis component suppresses the operational messages about events which are a consequence of already detected source, using dynamically updated information on topology. For identification of failures in Entuity network uses different methods, including active poll of the equipment, statistics about reset of devices, the SNMP ladders given to syslog. Entuity allows to detect real problems and to find their source with high efficiency. This information is used in the business focused reports and dashborda, providing to heads of IT and business divisions summary data on availability for last period.


Performance review

Entuity constantly monitors the key characteristics characterizing network performance, providing the early notification about degradation, thereby allowing to protect users from expensive interruptions of business processes. Performance data can be used not only for the operational problem resolution, but also for identification of long-term trends, loading planning.

For control of characteristics of network performance of Entuity uses different methods among which there is an analysis of values of the main metrics of devices and ports, statistics of IP SLA given to QoS. The developed graphic means facilitate studying of statistics of IP SLA. Monitoring of characteristics of network performance can be made using the IP SLA tests both created using Entuity, and automatically detected.


Netflow monitoring

Entuity allows to collect, to process and visualize data of NetFlow, to share them along with other network data, and all this within one product. The fast, not requiring any costs correlation of data on traffic with data on characteristics of work of network equipment or channels can be in many cases a key factor for successful localization and permission of network problems.

Data of NetFlow allow to analyze in details utilization of separate interfaces, to break traffic by different criteria, it for example as protocols, applications, the classes QoS, senders, receivers. Traffic can be analyzed in real time or be considered when processing historical data.


Monitoring of configurations

Entuity gives an opportunity to analyze maintenance and the executed changes in configuration data, automatically detects and announces the violations set the politician. It can promote compulsory execution of the regulations described in the organization.


Reports


In Entuity is available more than 100 the predeterminated completely specified (out-of-the-box), allowing users it is easy to analyze and interpret network data. These reports are focused on different categories of users: for example the reports for specialists of service of operation used at localization and the problem resolution or the reports for heads of business divisions and IT allowing to see, how well network supports work of business users.

Reports are output in the form of tables, diagrams, interactive maps, dashboards.

In addition to the predetermined reports of Entuity provides powerful tools of formation of specialized reports for those users for whom the possibility of change and report settings, use of the user data sets is necessary.

Also there are convenient possibilities of formation and the tunings for different user groups of dashboards performed in the drag and drop mode.

In Entuity there is a separate report group of Insight Center, giving business idea of functioning of network. It is the expanded set of the dashboards allowing to estimate in general key operational indicators. These reports help administrators to see how IT infrastructure supports the key controlled directions and delivery of services. Unlike many traditional management systems for networks providing information on a status of devices and ports, Entuity allows users to obtain information on availability of the services determined by them which are formed by applications, the network services, devices and servers used at execution of these services. At determination of service criteria of its availability are defined.

Information provided to Entuity is useful to different types to users. First of all, it:

  • The specialists of the control center and operators of service of operation using means of the notification of Entuity at detection and elimination of network problems (beginning from problems of access to devices in the local area network, errors of operation of devices or channels, finishing routing problems)
  • The network departmental engineers of planning and development of network using the data on loading and network performance created by Entuity
  • The heads of divisions responsible for effective and reliable work of network infrastructure, work of the subordinated network specialists
  • The managers of business divisions and IT departments who are periodically using dashboards and reports of Entuity for the purpose of control or in the course of accomplishment of own tasks requiring information on network functioning

Entuity 13.5

This release includes the following essential new functionality:

  • Built-in system of event management. The system based on a rule set as a result of reduction of number of the escalated events allows to increase operational efficiency and aiming at satisfaction of business needs. It facilitates understanding of the events, reduces derivation by insignificant events, allows to select the events requiring actions. Other management systems for networks often generate "a squall of events" that results in impossibility of use of a system for search of the reasons of problems and permission even of the most critical situations. Entuity provides functions of a management system for corporate network along with the main advantages of event management systems that usually is available only in very expensive management systems for IT infrastructure.
  • A system is completely ready for operation ('out-of-the-box'). It is not the project requiring development, but a system in about ten predetermined rules from which the user should select necessary only. Rules are prepared on the basis of the best experience of clients of the different countries.
  • Users can configure event handling on the basis of conditions and specific processes, using the Entuity interface. There is no need to edit configuration files or to learn a modern language for writing of scripts.
  • Events form in real time to tell the user that now something occurred. Emergence of the "incident" which is consolidation of several interconnected events indicates existence of the situation requiring actions. Incidents help to ignore noise and to concentrate on the current situations which can influence services. In a system has more than 100 described types of incidents which can be specified by users. Users can create own types of incidents also. Correlating events from the different devices integrating different subnets it is possible to select rather significant incidents.
  • Unfinished incidents can cause the built-in automatic escalation and notifications.
  • Debugging of rules of the description of events is made by simple change of parameters, using the Entuity interface, without search of errors in scripts or configuration files.
  • This functionality is built completely in the Entuity system which is a uniform product (all-in-one) and does not require the special interface, any integration, installation, support. He is delivered without the mezzanine board, does not demand costs for implementation, giving important opportunities which were able to afford only the few largest companies earlier.
  • Layers of services on cards with network topology. Cards of topology Entuity give the chance quickly and effectively to estimate the events in network. Entuity 13.5 expands functionality of cards with the new means of the graphics image allowing to provide better information on network. Using the web interface it is possible to display easily on the card different types of devices. Users can select the image mode on cards only of the objects providing for them interest, selecting the devices or communications entering into service or view. For example, the card which shows only the objects of network responsible for Email service can be generated. In the Status Mode mode the status of devices and communications (up/down) is shown on the map. In the Utilization Mode mode levels of utilization of devices and communications are shown by color on the map.
  • Expansion of access facilities to data. Entuity 13.5 expands the accessibility to data, allowing to take quickly data for use them out of a system. It is possible to export data in the CSV format from interactive charts and from the table of the expanded description of the device (Explorer Advanced Tab). For this purpose any preliminary configuring is not required. Practically all collected data can be easily exported for use by their other products when forming difficult analytical reports or preparation of any user reports of any format.

The new release includes also different improvements of functions of administration, development of components of integration with Cisco, Alcatel, Oracle, BMC, upgrades for support of F5, Alteon, Cisco ACE, Netscaler, the platforms Microsoft Windows, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Oracle Enterprise Linux.
