Admission to the Navy

On July 12, 2024, it became known that the Russian Navy was replenished with the latest icebreaker Evpatiy Kolovrat, which successfully completed state tests and is ready to be included in the Pacific Fleet. The ceremony of raising the naval flag and the official transfer of the Navy ship will take place in the near future in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.

According to TASS, the multifunctional ice-class ship "Evpatiy Kolovrat" was built for a detachment of auxiliary vessels of troops and forces in northeastern Russia. During the tests, representatives of the manufacturer conducted a comprehensive check of the seaworthiness of the icebreaker, its maneuverability, as well as the operability of air navigation equipment and ship systems.

Russian Navy replenished with the latest icebreaker "Evpatiy Kolovrat"

The Evpatiy Kolovrat icebreaker was designed by the Nizhny Novgorod Vympel design bureau and built at the Almaz St. Petersburg shipyard according to the 21180M project. The ship has a displacement of 4,000 tons, a length of 82 meters and a width of 19 meters. The maximum speed is 14 knots, and the crew has 30 people. The icebreaker is able to independently stay at sea for up to 30 days and overcome ice up to 1 meter thick.

The main tasks of the multifunctional ice-class ship "Evpatiya Kolovrata" in the area of ​ ​ responsibility of the Pacific Fleet will be the year-round wiring of Pacific Fleet ships in the near Arctic zone, logistics and patrolling of the water area.

Acceptance of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation

On July 1, 2024, it became known that the Russian Ministry of Defense commissioned the newest icebreaker Evpatiy Kolovrat of the 21180M project, equipped with an electric motor. The vessel, intended for the Pacific Fleet, successfully passed state tests and was officially transferred to the military department.

According to KB Pennant"," the act of acceptance of the icebreaker was signed by representatives of the Navy of the Russian Federation on June 17, 2024. The new vessel is designed to carry out a wide range of tasks, including delivering cargo to distant garrisons, conducting warships in ice conditions, transporting teams and conducting hydrographic work. The icebreaker is able to overcome ice up to 1 meter thick at a speed of 2 knots.

Evpatiy Kolovrat was laid down at the Almaz shipbuilding company in St. Petersburg in December 2018, and launched on November 20, 2020. The vessel has a total displacement of 4080 tons, a hull length of 82 meters, a width of 19 meters and a draft of 4.6 meters. The icebreaker has a maximum speed of 14 knots, a cruising range of 7,600 miles, and autonomy of 30 days.

The 21180M project, developed by the design bureau of USC Vympel, provides for the possibility of installing artillery anti-aircraft installations, which expands the functionality of the vessel. The icebreaker is also equipped with a helicopter site.
