2020: Announcement

At the end of March, 2020 Epam announced creation of a medical Gentl mask which is designed to help with fight against COVID-19 coronavirus. The mask can be two-layer and be used for common defense and also three-layered with additional protection in the form of the filtering materials of an industrial class capable to delay solid particles more than 1 micron in size.

Edges of a mask turn out completely hermetic therefore air passes through the filter and sheets of polypropylene, and thanks to a loopback thong construction is densely fixed on the person.

Gentl provides itself the open design assuming use of public materials and simple production process for filling of spaces in a supply chain with forces of the local enterprises.

The pandemic of COVID-19 caused sharp increase in demand for individual protection equipment and as the considerable volume of such products is manufactured in China, interruptions in their deliveries caused acute shortage of SIZ in the world market.

Within the Gentl project we developed the innovation construction of a mask which is very easy for making in big scales — the vice president of Epam Continuum Chris Michaud says. — Depending on specific features of health care systems some hospitals lack for surgical masks, and at others masks with filters come to an end.

According to him, by the end of March, 2020 the medical mask developed in the company undergoes the procedure of the expert analysis a number of the leading organizations of health sector in different corners of the globe and also is tested by producers and government agencies in several countries of the world.

It is noted that statements concerning Gentl were not exposed to assessment by FDA or any other regulating authorities.[1]
