HP Service Manager is a flagship product of Hewlett-Packard for process automation of a support service and management of IT services.
HP Service Manager automates the following IT processes:
- incident management;
- management of addresses;
- change management;
- management of releases;
- configuration management;
- problem management;
- layer management of services;
- management of service requests;
- knowledge management;
- management of scheduled works.
Service Manager consists of classical three-level architecture the client/server:
The presentation layer shows information to the user by means of the client (the web client or Windows client)
The application layer consists of different applications and operational management tools of software (Run-Time Environment, RTE). The application server carries out instructions of technology process
Database level — an external system of database management with which Service Manager is connected. The database stores instructions of workflow of applications and the description of a format
The administrator sets in the initialization file Service Manager (sm.ini) parameters of the selected language, the color scheme, connection parameters to a management system for a relational database and so on.
HP Service Manager provides the full cross-platform web interface for operators of a system and very flexible self-service portal. It should be noted that the web interface for operators of HP Service Manager represents the exact copy Windows client, and these two interfaces are configured synchronously.
In addition to exclusive opportunities of setup of HP Service Manager 7.0 has very ample and various opportunities on creation of reports. In HP Service Manager there is the driver of creation of reports allowing to create reports of medium complexity and also the toolbar (dashboard).
Integration of HP of Service Manager with other products is performed either through web services, or through the separate product delivered together with HP Service Manager — Connect-It.
