2021: Electric truck announcement

On November 8, 2021, the Chinese company Geely introduced its first electric truck. The model was called Homtruck, it will be sold in three versions.

The first version of the car is completely electric with the function of replacing batteries, and the other two are hybrid. In the first case, an internal combustion engine (ICE) will be used, and in the second a methanol engine. Methanol-powered batteries are technology that Geely has been investing in since 2019 and some of its models at the beginning of November 2021 have this power option. Homtruck batteries can be changed in places, which reduces the need for charging.

This product is designed and designed for the global market. Geely will focus on Europe, Korea, Japan and North America. Based on the needs of the market and the development needs of our own company, we must develop and improve certain technologies in advance. Thus, when the rules and conditions are ready, we will be able to apply our technologies in the market on time. Homtruck represents a significant step towards a zero-carbon freight system and opens the door to a new era for the logistics industry, said Geely CEO Mike Fan.

Based on a thorough analysis of the driver's working conditions and route, Farizon Auto developed the Homtruck cab, which uses the concept of a house and optimizes the space for creating a driving area and a residential area. The design includes a bathroom with shower and toilet, single bed, fridge, kettle, kitchen and even a small washing machine. The ergonomic seat design and high definition camera help the driver rest and focus well, and the intelligent AI assistant, combined with 360 ° cameras, help the driver be aware of any problems around the car while driving or parking. In the cabin, designers used natural soft fabrics, plastics and bamboo grain materials to create a healthy, environmentally friendly environment.

The company said that the car will be able to use the L4 hands-off autonomous control functions, and will also introduce a convoy function for longer trips, which will allow trucks to share or exchange information with each other to maintain safe speed and distance, which will reduce stress levels for the driver. Hardware sensors such as millimeter lidar radar, ultrasonic radar will be standard equipment along 5G with V2X communications. Homtruck will also have the full capability of updating by software air (OTA).[1]
