2020: The announcement of IonicRF - the device for radio-frequency ablation
In the middle of November, 2020 Abbott released the device for radio-frequency ablation of IonicRF for non-invasive treatment of the pain syndrome connected with damage of nervous system. This device provides minimum invasive treatment by means of radio-frequency ablation. Heat caused by waves influences certain nerves and blocks signals of pain receptors before those reach back and a brain. According to the press release, this first device for radio-frequency ablation developed by Abbott and which got approval of regulatory bodies in the USA and Europe.
Doctor Jason Pope from the center of recovery Evolve in Santa-Rose (California) noted that Abbott IonicRF has several "promising aspects", for example, can help doctors at fight against pains with several certain areas of a body. Researches showed that pain relief after the single procedure of radio-frequency ablation can last from six to 12 months. Radio-frequency ablation was used for treatment of pain of different genesis, including waist pain and sacral podvzdoshnom a joint. At the same time radio-frequency ablation allowed to relieve pain which did not answer conservative methods of therapy, such as physical therapy, the injection and tableted medicines.
Most of patients who are considered as candidates for radio-frequency ablation other methods of treatment already tested, but did not achieve significant success, - noted the vice president of Abbott for development of devices of neuromodulation Keith Boettiger. - As a result they look for the alternative solution which does not require surgical intervention or use of opioid medicines. We are proud that we can provide the first device for radio-frequency ablation developed by Abbott which provides safe and effective anesthesia.[1] |
