2021: Aircraft of the Russian Ministry of Defense began to equip the Kasatka search and targeting complex
In early September 2021, it was announced that the aircraft Ministry of Defence Russia began to be equipped with the Kasatka search and targeting complex (PPK) with technology artificial intelligence designed to recognize objects.
In a conversation with TASS, the executive director of the Radar MMS enterprise (system developer) Ivan Antsev noted that the defense department of the Russian Federation has been working with the enterprise as a customer for more than a year. According to him, by September 2021, Kasatka is also actively used in the civil sphere, including on unmanned aerial vehicles created by the company for geological exploration, cargo delivery, and ground surface monitoring.
The Kasatka complex, which operates under the control of a multifunctional information and control system, is designed to detect underwater and surface objects, target designation, search and rescue operations, as well as environmental monitoring.
Radar MMS has developed a number of modifications of the Kasatka PPK based on the Il-114 aircraft for patrol and monitoring aviation systems for various purposes:
- maritime patrol aircraft;
- reconnaissance and surveillance patrol aircraft;
- long-range radar detection and control aircraft;
- electronic warfare aircraft;
- geophysical monitoring aircraft.
Earlier, Antsev said that the complex received artificial intelligence algorithms, it laid down the principles of open architecture, modular construction and unification to various carriers. The AI system implements comprehensive information processing of all software and software systems and intelligent decision support.
According to the developers, the main advantages of the complex are:
- open architecture;
- modular design;
- intelligent decision support system.[1]
