2020: The electronic lil Solid cigarettes appeared in the Russian market

On August 18, 2020 KT&G announced entry into the Russian market of electronic cigarettes. The company began sales of the device for heating of lil Solid tobacco which, according to the producer, can be used during 20 sessions at a total charge of the battery and four sessions in a row.

Thanks to Dual Heat technology the heating element evenly warms up tobacco from within, disclosing its taste and aroma without smoke and without ashes — it is specified in the description to a product.

KT&G — the first South Korean company which began to deliver electronic cigarettes abroad and to Russia, in particular. The agreement with Philip Morris International company which began to prormote the partner's production under the Iqos brand was for this purpose signed. By August 18, 2020 lil Solid set cost in the Russian Federation is 2690 rubles. The price of tobacco stacks — 130 rubles for a pack and 1300 rubles for the block.

The South Korean producer of the electronic KT&G cigarettes entered the market of the Russian Federation

In the middle of August, 2020 the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) permitted Philip Morris and KT&G jointly to sell in Russia products from the heated tobacco and the device for their consumption under the KT&G brands, having issued the instruction aimed at providing the competition in the market of nicotine-containing products.

At decision-making we, of course, considered that circumstance that Filip Morris company – one of the largest in the market of both tobacco, and innovation nicotine-containing products in the world and in Russia. Gain of market force of the company is compensated by the restrictions set in the instruction of antimonopoly authority — the chief of control financial management of FAS Vladimir Mishelovin noted.

According to him, the main instruments of competitive struggle will be in the short term the price factor and novelty of goods.

By the end of July, 2020 KT&G sold more than 2.4 million sets for smoking of the electronic lil Solid cigarettes.[1]
