The Microsoft corporation announced in November, 2010 the beginning of beta testing of the Windows MultiPoint Server 2011 server platform. This operating system based on Windows Server 2008 R2 will allow educational institutions to provide access to ADP equipment to the bigger number of pupils.
The administrator interface of the new version supports sketches of desktops. Thanks to this innovation teachers will be able to monitor the current activity of all pupils in a class and, if necessary, to render the individual help to each student. Thanks to support of the "thin" clients connected on a local network, workstations can be deleted on any distance from each other now.
In Windows MultiPoint Server 2011 the possibility of binding of the numerous modules MultiPoint Server and management by them from the MultiPoint Manager Console single console is implemented that will be especially convenient for computer classes, libraries and other premises where a large number of computers is installed. Support of the Split Screen function will allow to turn each workstation with one monitor into two individual workplaces.
Powerful SDK tools (the general for the MultiPoint Server, Small Business Server and Home Server platforms) which will allow producers of the training programs and management systems to provide compatibility of own products with MultiPoint Server will be at disposal of developers. The new version of Windows MultiPoint Server also provides a possibility of closer integration in the existing Active Directory infrastructure.
