2020: The announcement of the video laryngoscope for fast introduction of a tube to a trachea

In the middle of August, 2020 the Nihon Kohden company provided the NK AWS-S200 video laryngoscope extended out of the USA under a brand of Pentax. It is designed to help medics during a pandemic and to provide faster intubation of a trachea from the first attempt.

The intubation is necessary for maintenance of many critical patients with COVID-19 in intensive care unit, but this procedure can take more than a minute some patients that can lead to serious effects. The NK AWS-S200 video laryngoscope should facilitate a task of doctors.

It is equipped with the color display of high definition with an aim cross hairs which helps to place the end of an endotrakhealny tube in airways. The built-in channel allows to push easily a tube in a trachea under continuous observation. Thus the video laryngoscope can reduce risk of injury of an oral cavity and throat, having prevented such ghost effects as bleeding of a mucous membrane and a sore throat.

As the producer claims, NK AWS-S200 allows doctors to intubirovat difficult patients quicker, than other devices.

Thanks to NK AWS-S200 doctors can intubirovat airways even in complex cases in 22.9 seconds that is much lower than a 30-second threshold recommended for an intubation - is mentioned in the press release of the company. At SLR the video laryngoscope can be used in parallel for an intubation of patients and for performing resuscitation.

Besides, it is supposed that the NK AWS-S200 video laryngoscope also reduces risk of infection of doctors of COVID-19 - now they do not need to bend over patients to estimate provision of vocal chords and a throat. Using disposable blades of NK PBLADE which are available in four different sizes, doctors reduce risk of cross infection between patients and medics even more.[1]
