2022: City Power Lines Control System Development
The Perm Polytechnic has developed a system for controlling city power lines. The University announced this on July 7, 2022.
With the active development of cities and the growing need for transmitted electricity, the question of the possibility of increasing the load of operated power lines is acute. Sometimes reconstructing existing or laying new cable lines is costly or difficult due to location in underground headers. Perm Polytechnic scientists have developed a mathematical model to quickly analyze the state of power lines, which will observe the internal temperature field of the cable without violating the integrity of its design. If overheating is likely to occur, the system will determine ways to solve the dangerous situation.
The development was carried out within the framework of the Priority-2030 Academic Strategic Leadership Program.
The vast majority of cable products used for July 2022 contain polymer materials in their design, which tend to lose their physical and electrical properties over time. This process is exacerbated by an increase in the temperature of the article. Therefore, the process of its operation is associated with the need to control temperature conditions.
Polytechnics offer a technique that allows a similar analysis of the channel state by means of remote control and controls the choice of the most rational mode.
If the mode in question can lead to unacceptable channel states, it is necessary to determine on which lines and how much the load needs to be reduced in order to eliminate excessive heating. For the convenience of work, it is necessary to determine the structure of the array in which the results of all possible solutions of the cable channel states calculated for specific current loads will be stored, - said Irina Kukharchuk, senior lecturer at the Department of Design and Technology in Electrical Engineering. |
The proposed methodology is planned to be integrated into the control system for the operation of power lines. The technology is suitable for cable structures of various structures and can be implemented as a separate software application. The introduction of such products into the system for monitoring the condition of cable lines contributes to the development of digitalization of electric power systems.
