2020: Announcement

At the beginning of March, 2020 Goodyear provided the innovation smart buses capable to be recovered independently. The product received the name reCharge.

It represents the airless tire deprived of the hermetic camera. To such bus punctures and cuts are not terrible, and the driver will be saved from need to control chamber pressure. But the main thing, it is supplied with a biodegradable protector which is capable to regenerate thanks to the special capsule with special biodegradable material. In process of wear of a surface of a protector the firm external layer becomes thinner that allows oxygen of air to get into an external layer and to come into contact with liquid connection which is selected from the capsule. Oxygen allows liquid connection to harden, and the worn-out external layer is gradually replaced with a new layer.

Thus new buses allow to increase in process of wear a protector on outer side of a tire for ensuring necessary coupling with the road. Goodyear claims that the buses reCharge will be strengthened by fibers which are based on heavy-duty silk thread of a spider. The capsule with biomaterial will be directly inserted into a wheel.

Drivers will be able "to recharge" the buses, having inserted the capsule with this liquid structure into the center of a wheel. Thus, motorists should not send worn-out buses to a dump — they will be able "to samoizlechivatsya". Moreover, the technology will allow to change properties of substance in the capsule taking into account operating conditions of tires, a climatic situation and even style of driving.

By the beginning of March, 2020 the producer does not announce terms of the beginning of production of the innovation buses. The company announced intention to provide technology within the motor show in Geneva.[1]
