2020: Representation of gas alarms with LoRaWAN transmitters

On April 2, 2020 the Ruselectronics Holding announced State Corporation Rostec development of the gas alarms transferring information on a gas leak to operational services according to the internet protocol of things of LoRaWAN (Long Range Wide Area Network). In case of an emergency situation the equipment will automatically block a gas supply and will transmit an alarm to operational services on wireless networks.

The LoRaWAN technology allows to transmit a signal which is practically not blocked by walls of buildings and constructions. Reach of the transmitter in the conditions of urban development makes up to 5 km, on the open area this indicator reaches 20 km. Unlike sensors for Wi-fi networks and 4G, LoraWAN devices require much less energy and are capable to run on the battery from one to several years.

Development of the equipment is conducted by NPP Almaz entering into Ruselectronics – the representative of the domestic market of signaling devices and control systems of gas contamination. The enterprise is going to create and test prototypes of gas alarms with LoRaWAN transmitters until the end of 2020. Devices can be used both in private houses and apartments, and on industrial facilities.

Serial production of the provided gas alarms will begin in 2021. We will make both signaling devices, and sending devices with the LoRaWAN protocol which can be also used as a part of the "smart" systems including metering devices of energy resources, fire annunciators and other equipment with technology of Internet of Things
told the First Deputy CEO of NPP Almaz Mikhail Apin
