2023: Product Announcement
In early March 2023, it became known about the creation of a robotic manipulator in Russia, including for welding along complex trajectories. The corresponding system was presented by Samara State Technical University (SamSTU). According to the developers, their technology can be used for various purposes, including:
- moving objects in a space with a high-precision location (supply) of objects to the working zone of another device;
- removal from the working area, supply and fixation during installation;
- performing workpiece machining operations, welding, surfacing, etc.
- grip - movement of objects in space;
- milling cutter or cutter - mechanical processing robotic machine;
- welding torch - welding along complex trajectories, surfacing, etc.
We implemented the volumetric surfacing function, in fact, creating the ability to 3D-print objects from metals and alloys using the electric arc surfacing method. The holder for the welding torch was made by undergraduates using reverse engineering technology, additive technologies for the manufacture of casting equipment and standard casting processes according to burned models, the SamGTU said. |
It is noted that the parameters of surfacing (current, voltage, wire feed rate to the arc burning zone, diameter and wire material) are set at the welding semi-automatic. The welding torch is moved in space by the robot according to the control program created by the operator.
The university plans to create a hybrid technology that combines elements of additive and subtractive processes. This requires another robot manipulator, which will serve as a robotic machining machine.[1]
