2020: The announcement of a respirator of TEAL determining the prileganiye density, frequency of breath and temperature
In the middle of November, 2020 the Massachusetts Institute of Technology announced development of a transparent respirator of TEAL. It contains sensors which tell the user whether the mask adjoins to the person densely, and in time warn about need of replacement of filters. The respirator can be exposed to repeated sterilization that helps to reduce the number of waste and reduces risk of shortage of SIZ. Innovation already began to be used in women's hospital of Brigham and Women's Hospital.
During COVID-19 pandemic the need for respirators and masks sharply increased. Our command tried to develop a respirator which not only conveniently sits and densely adjoins to the person, but also can be exposed to repeated sterilization, - the researcher Giovanni Traverso (Giovanni Traverso) explained. - During the researches the respirator of TEAL could sustain up to 100 cycles of repeated sterilization. |
Researchers already tested different procedures of sterilization of a respirator, including chemical treatment, UF-sterilization, autoclaving, processing in the microwave oven and influence of isopropyl alcohol. The mask saved the elasticity and efficiency after each procedure of sterilization.
The device also includes sensors which help users to carry correctly it, for example, a termokhromny covering which changes color at contact with skin. Other sensors estimate operation of filters and allow to measure a set of other parameters, including the exhalation/breath pressure, frequency of breath and temperature of an expiratory air.
The transparent mask can also help medics with communication which is complicated when using normal masks. Within the research most of volunteers preferred a new respirator of TEAL to normal masks and respirators and also quickly learned to put on correctly it and to change filters.[1]
