2020: Development of the turbine jet TV7-117

On October 23, 2020 Rostec announced creation of digital doubles of the second level of aircraft engines of TV7-117. The state corporation implements this project together with the St. Petersburg Polytechnical university.

As explained in Rostec, the digital double of the second level represents the virtual model integrated into production. It will store and reflect detailed information on creation, the existing parameters and operation of each manufactured engine. A system will allow to carry out virtual tests, to predict behavior of the power unit and to define what elements of the engine it is more reasonable to make using additive technologies.

Rostec started development of digital doubles of the aircraft engines integrated into production

The digital double of the second level of the TV7-117 aircraft engine is intended for virtual tests of elements of the power unit, determination of cost-efficient parameters and upgrade of production. Engineers defined 13 basic elements of the axial compressor for which the virtual algorithms which are completely repeating technology processes of serial production will be created.

Implementation of innovations in production – the priority direction of development of domestic aircraft industry. In addition to reliability augmentation, a system will allow to reduce terms of tests of engines and to gain direct economic effect which will be expressed in production cost reduction — the deputy CEO - the chief designer of United Engine Corporation Yury Shmotin whose words are cited in press releases said.

According to Shmotin, it is going to create the digital double of the second level by 2022. Different modifications of the turbine jet TV7-117 are established on the new Mi-38 helicopters and also airplanes Il-112B and Il-114-300.
