2022: Announcement of a Russian armored car to destroy drones

In mid-August 2022, the Military Industrial Company (MIC) presented the Tiger-M armored vehicle (AMN-233114) with a combat module for detecting and destroying unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

At the disposal of the gunner-operator are viewing and sighting thermal imaging and television cameras, a laser rangefinder and a two-plane stabilizer. The car has four 7.62 mm 6P7K machine guns with an aiming range of 1000 m and an ammunition load of 4,000 rounds.

"Military Industrial Company" introduced an armored car to destroy drones

"Tiger-M" is designed to transport personnel, cargo and towing trailed systems weighing up to 12.5 tons, as well as the installation of weapons and military equipment with the required level of ballistic and mine protection. The armored car combines the qualities of an all-terrain vehicle and a high-speed maneuverable car and can be used on various types of terrain at air temperatures from -50 to + 50 degrees Celsius, relative air humidity up to 98% and intense precipitation.

The total combat weight of the module is 650 kg. With its help, it will be possible to effectively hit ground targets. In addition to the Tigers, this system can be installed on the latest armored vehicles AMN 233121 "Athlete" and other equipment.

According to Rossiyskaya Gazeta, for the same number of barrels with the famous anti-aircraft self-propelled gun ZSU-23-4, the novelty has already been nicknamed "Mini-Shilka."

The newspaper notes that the experience of modern conflicts, including a special military operation, shows the increased role of small drones used for both reconnaissance and strike missions. Even during the fighting in Iraq and Syria, militants of banned anti-government groups adapted them to deliver miniature bombs, the use of which sometimes caused quite tangible damage. To combat such UAVs, special anti-drone guns are used that create interference.[1]
