Vector-120 (kamikaze drone)

On June 28, 2023, the Unmanned Aircraft Development Bureau (OKB) announced the development of a unique aircraft-type kamikaze drone called Vector-120. You can launch this unmanned aerial vehicle, including from the window of the house.

According to TASS, the design of the drone involves launching from a disposable portable tube, the length of which is 90 cm, the diameter is 10 cm, and the weight along with the ammunition is 2.8 kg. The drone is capable of carrying a load in the form of a warhead weighing 220-250 grams. This, it is argued, is quite enough to exceed the striking effect of RGD-5 grenades, F-1 or compete with the RPG-7 shot.

When unfolded, the drone has a wingspan of 1.2 m. Its flight speed can reach 200 km/h. The planned flight time of the barraging ammunition is approximately 30 minutes, which, according to the developers, is enough for a combat mission. An important advantage of the drone is that it is capable of starting from any position, which provides flexibility of use.

A house window, trench, caponier or forest is not important. A soldier can take this tube as a grenade launcher and launch the device from inside the building. The device will shoot without visible smoke, fly a certain distance from the launcher, lay out its wings and perform a flight mission, TASS the developers said.

The drone is planned to be used to destroy lightly armored vehicles (infantry fighting vehicles, armored personnel carriers and armored vehicles-pickups), as well as enemy manpower. The tube received an enhanced execution, thanks to which it can withstand rather harsh handling. The design of the device does not require the deployment of the launch system. Elements located in a replaceable warhead can be of the shrapnel type - these are metal products of increased hardness, which have a large radius of destruction.^[1]
