ViDiNG System is the professional Russian system of a group video conferencing supporting server technology of mix of video images.

The technology of server mix ViDiNG is unique for the Russian systems of a video conferencing (it is used in the western servers of a video conferencing (MCU): Polycom, Tandberg (Cisco), SONY, LifeSize, Huawei, etc.). Exactly thanks to technology of server mix practically any terminal equipment of conferees can be connected to the ViDiNG conferences: The PC with the webcam, the notebook or the netbook, videophones, video terminals or video systems of the western producers; and almost unlimited number of conferees (the number of conferees is limited only to the power of your server and data transmission channel).

ViDiNG is developed by the Russian developers. In ViDiNG System only open protocols of communication are used: SIP, H.323. The architecture of ViDiNG is constructed on the open source (open-source) using own unique developments.

ViDiNG System provides free connection of a video equipment and MCU of different producers: Codian MCU, Tandberg, Polycom, LifeSize, Sony, AddPac and so forth supports by ViDiNG a full range of modern functions and is established on servers of a standard configuration.

ViDiNG technologies

Server mix Coding and decoding of the image of conferees directly on the video conference server, but not on the terminal equipment. The technology of mix of the image on the server allows to collect and process video flows of all participants of video conferences on the server hardware. After collecting and processing of video images the server transforms them to a single video flow and sends collected "picture" to conferees.

In the conferences which are not supporting technology of server mix, video flows of each conferee come to the terminal equipment, and the terminal equipment should make complex work on collecting and processing of video. In ViDiNG video conferences this work is performed by the server. Exactly thanks to technology of server mix practically any terminal equipment of conferees can be connected to the ViDiNG conferences: The PC with the webcam, the notebook or the netbook, videophones, video terminals or video systems of the western producers; and almost unlimited number of conferees (the number of conferees is limited only to the power of your server and data transmission channel).

The technology provides free integration into the different terminal equipment under protocols: SIP, H.323, thanks to server mix processes video flows of participants and connects in the uniform video image the server, but not the terminal equipment.

The technology of server mix ViDiNG is unique for the Russian systems of a video conferencing (it is used in the western servers of a video conferencing (MCU): Polycom, Tandberg (Cisco), SONY, LifeSize, Huawei, etc.).

Video codecs Support of a broad spectrum of protocols and the newest compression standards of video intended for achievement of a high compression ratio of a video flow when preserving high quality. Own unique developments in encoding space and decoding of the image. A system uses technology of coding H.264 and supports video - from HD in a format of 1080p 60 frames per second to SD in format 4CIF of 30 frames per second at the expense of what communication of the mixed format between HD and SD terminals is provided.

The ViDiNG video server also supports the H.323 codec which works in networks with non-quaranteed capacity better.

Dynamic bitrate Switching between different bitrates depending on width of data transmission channel of each of participants of video conference. At big losses in the channel the bitrate of the codec decreases, saving image quality due to reduction of picture frequency per second.

What is extremely convenient at video conferencing with remote branches with an unstable communication channel: at deterioration in data transmission channel of one of participants of video conference, picture frequency per second of this participant decreases. Without affecting at the same time quality of the video image of other users of video conference.

The technology of mix of video on the server, but not on the terminal equipment allows to transfer the uniform picture (mosaic) of participants of a session of video conference, providing thereby independence of power and type of the end device and also a possibility of transfer of a uniform mosaic on videophones, video terminals and video systems.

ViDiNG supports H.264 standard and contains a number of the new technologies of processing and signal transmission allowing to increase considerably efficiency of video compression, providing big flexibility of application in various network environments and in the conditions of limited channel Internet.

The system of a video conferencing for public sector based on ViDiNG [1]


The RD Telecom company presented in November, 2011 a new solution on creation and expansion of network of interdepartmental communications by means of a video conferencing for federal executive authorities and executive authorities of territorial subjects of the Russian Federation. The solution is developed based on program system of a video conferencing of the professional grade of ViDiNG System which architecture is constructed on the open source using developments of the Russian specialists.

The solution on creation and expansion of infrastructure of interdepartmental communications by means of implementation of program system of a video conferencing of ViDiNG System includes: implementation of program system of a video conferencing of ViDiNG System in infocommunication infrastructure of the customer; a video conferencing possibility on the required number of simultaneous users of video conference (the number of participants is limited only to the power of the server hardware); a possibility of broadcast of video conferences via the web interface and possibilities of fast video calls between the staff of department; support of a write mode of conferences; connection to video conferences of the equipment of third-party producers (video terminals, video systems, videophones, PC, notebooks, netbooks); integration of video conference into the existing servers of video conferences, MCU of the customer (Polycom, Tandberg (Cisco), Sony, LifeSize, etc.); possibility of support of HD and Full HD of quality.

ViDiNG System is the Russian multi-user system of a video conferencing which architecture is constructed based on Open Source and supports technology of server mix of video images. In ViDiNG System open protocols of communication are used: SIP, H.323, and unique technologies: server mix, own developments in the field of video coding, dynamic bitrate.

The server of a video conferencing ViDiNG passed tests for integration into the Tandberg Codian MCU video server

The program server of a group video conferencing ViDiNG passed tests for integration into the Tandberg Codian MCU video server. Within tests there was a problem of expansion of number of simultaneous users of conferences with 6 to 50. Integration provided connection of Tandberg Codian MCU 4203 on H.323 as the transferred video image with permission of SD to the program server of a video conferencing ViDiNG.

At the same time subscribers of Tandberg Codian MCU were broadcast in ViDiNG video conference window in high quality that allowed to work with the video conference created based on MCU Codian fully.

As the terminal equipment connected to ViDiNG video conference video terminals of Polycom and also notebooks and the PC with the PVX vPhone and Polycom software client set on them - the software product for carrying out video conferences using the personal computer and the standard USB camera were used.

At the same time ViDiNG provided free integration and demonstration of video conferences of ViDiNG in software clients of Polycom of PVX.
