2025: Transfer of the Russian Navy
Navy Russia replenished with the patrol ship "Victor the Great" of project 22160, which became the fifth ship of this series transferred to the fleet, as well as two small missile ships "Stavropol" and "Typhoon." The new combat units officially became part of the Russian Navy at the end of August 2025, strengthening the country's maritime potential with three modern warships. Information about the commissioning of ships appeared in the telegram channel Ministry of Defence of Russia on August 29, 2025.
The patrol ship "Victor the Great" was created according to project 22160, developed by JSC "Northern Design Bureau" in St. Petersburg. In 2014, the Russian Ministry of Defense placed an order for the construction of six patrol ships of this type intended for the Black Sea Fleet.
The construction of Victor the Great was carried out by JSC Zelenodolsky Plant named after A.M. Gorky, which is part of JSC Ak Bars Shipbuilding Corporation. The contract for the construction of five serial patrol ships of project 22160 with serial numbers 162, 163, 164, 165 and 166 was signed on October 9, 2014.
According to contractual obligations, ships with serial numbers 162, 163 and 164 were to be delivered in 2018, and ships with numbers 165 and 166 in 2019. The patrol ship "Victor the Great" received serial number 165 and was laid down in Zelenodolsk on November 25, 2016.
The ship was launched on May 7, 2024, after which in July 2024 the ship was towed along inland waterways from Zelenodolsk to Kronstadt. Transportation was carried out for additional staffing at Kronstadt Marine Plant JSC, testing and final commissioning.
Factory sea trials of Victor the Great began on February 8, 2025, when the ship left Kronstadt to check the technical characteristics and systems. The completion of the test period made it possible to officially include the ship in the Russian navy.[1]
