2018: Problems with development of a public cloud

At the end of April, 2018 it became known that Nutanix was going to start own public cloud in the second half of the year, however technical issues forced the company to review terms.

Public cloud services of Nutanix which will compete with products of Amazon, Microsoft and Google are developed under the name of Xi Cloud Services. The company recognizes that business development outside primary activity was a difficult task.

The founder and the CEO of Nutanix of Dkhiradzh Pandey  (Dheeraj Pandey) noted that it was more difficult to compete with Amazon, than it was expected. Implementation of methodology of development  of Agile was especially difficult.

This problem was more difficult, than we thought. It is to a lesser extent connected with products, but there was a question of how to develop. How to divide these things how to do small releases how at the same time to use several parallel flows of development — Pandey complains.

The main difficulty is in constantly to support data centers, cloud servers and software on the Internet and also to provide to clients in the different countries stable access to updates. Any technical delays can increase terms of start of a product, the head of Nutanix added.

At development of cloud business of Nutanix uses data centers, small and average on value, in which other companies rent capacities. Pandey says that the company is afraid to make the same mistakes in the cloud market, as HPE, for example, lack of accurate strategy.

Nutanix is going to sell public clouds to the acting clients, such as JetBlue Airways, Toyota, L'Oreal and AT&T, in 10 largest countries of the world.[1]
