The Pentagon will pay Google $200 million for the development of military AI. The contract has already been concluded

Customers: US Department of Defense (Pentagon)

Washington; MILITARY INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX

Contractors: Google

Project date: 2025/07

On July 14, 2025, Google announced that it had received a $200 million contract from the General Directorate of Digital Technologies and Artificial Intelligence (CDAO) as part of the US Department of Defense. We are talking about providing AI technologies to the American military.

The contract was concluded between the Pentagon and the Google Public Sector division, a structure formed in 2022 specifically for working with authorities. The US Department of Defense will use Google's advanced AI developments, including specialized tensor accelerators (TPUs) and the Agentspace platform. These solutions are expected to enable the Pentagon to effectively address defense challenges and scale the adoption of agent AI in corporate systems to drive innovation and improve efficiency.

In addition, Google will provide the Ministry of Defense with its secure cloud infrastructure. These are, in particular, Google Distributed Cloud services, which received Pentagon from the Impact Level 6 security accreditation: the platform is suitable for working with the most confidential and classified data that is transmitted through isolated defense and intelligence networks.
