Kaspersky Lab"" and the company Kraftway presented an electronic car control unit based on the Russian electronic component base, combining the functions of a security gateway and a telematic module to protect connected vehicles from cyber threats. The new solution was created on the basis operating system KasperskyOS of a software complex Kaspersky Automotive Secure Gateway using the principle of constructive safety at all stages of development. This was reported by the press service of Kaspersky Lab on September 18, 2025.
The company has applied extensive experience in searching for vulnerabilities in electronic control units to create a technological basis for protecting cars. The software is being tested and validated on a new platform with a Russian electronic component base.
Several pilot projects are being implemented on the basis of the presented platform. The companies plan to mass produce a universal solution that applies not only to cars, but also to other types of transport.
The electronic unit serves as the basis for the creation of a domestic secure intelligent automated traffic control and control system. The new hardware and software suite provides secure wireless updates, remote diagnostics and isolation of critical systems from external services.
When developing the solution, companies were guided by the principle of constructive safety, in which protection measures are integrated into the system architecture at the earliest stages of design. The unit implements authentication and delimitation of access to the functions of the car, protection of communication channels inside and with the external environment.
The technical solution includes a trusted download, a secure data store and a trusted time server. This approach provides comprehensive protection of automotive systems against various types of cyber threats.[1]
