On August 12, 2022, Aeroflot's board of directors, within the framework of a meeting chaired by Russian Minister of Transport Vitaly Savelyev, approved the airline's transition to a domestic automated air transportation information system (AIS OVP). According to the press service of the carrier, the terms of a 5-year deal between RT-Transkom LLC and Sirena-Travel JSC for the development and support services of the Russian booking platform were approved.

On August 12, 2022, Aeroflot's board of directors also decided to update the group's digital transformation strategy taking into account the changed geopolitical situation.

The main direction of the updated strategy is to ensure technological import independence and continuity of IT systems, services and critical information infrastructure under conditions of sanctions pressure, the company said in a statement.

In March 2022, the two largest air ticket booking and sales systems - American Sabre and Spanish Amadeus - terminated their distribution relationship with Aeroflot.

At the end of April 2022, the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation announced that Russian airlines should be prohibited from using foreign air ticket processing systems. According to officials, this will reduce the risks of destabilization of air transportation amid sanctions.

It was reported that in the future the company will switch to the Russian Leonardo system, created by Sirena-Travel and Rostec structures. The system is designed to protect the personal data of passengers and replace foreign booking services, the further use of which carries risks for the passenger transportation industry.

In June 2022, Aeroflot's low-budget subsidiary, Pobeda, switched to Leonardo. Prior to that, she used the services of the American Navitaire.[1]
