Rosenergoatom to substitute SAP with Russian solution for internal portal

By the beginning of 2021 Rosenergoatom is going to begin trial operation of a new corporate portal for the staff of concern based on the domestic solution CUBA Platform. The new solution should replace the portal based on a SAP software created more than 15 years ago. It follows from article in the corporate magazine of Rosenergoatom in release for August, 2020^[1].

Rosenergoatom says that premises of the decision on replacement of the portal became "obsolescence of management tools content and a server part in the current platform, slow development of functionality of the platform on the party of software supplier, lag from modern standards".

One more essential reason in concern set the high price of works on upgrade of the SAP portals and a problem with search of the corresponding specialists, especially in branches.

Unfortunately, the existing portal became morally outdated. Now we face not only problems of its service, support and setup of functionality, but also with difficult user navigation, – quotes the magazine of Rosenergoatom of Anton Metsa, project manager from department of IT project management and integration of central office of concern.

Import substitution in a portal part is developed in an extensive landscape of other systems of SAP of Rosenergoatom: in 2017 on the Russian nuclear power plants the project of replication the ERP system of this German vendor came to the end. Based on a single system in central office of Rosenergoatom, branches and on the NPP control of basic processes, including investments and projects, purchases, stocks, logistics, agreements, management of finance and costs, accounting and tax accounting is exercised.

Uniform ERP on the NPP was implemented within conversion of Rosenergoatom to the digital company - from the separate automated processes to a uniform information field and the integrated landscape.

As for a new corporate portal, during its creation it is going to save all basic user functions, useful headings and services, at the same time to improve design, convenience of the interface and a content management system on the party of administrators. Except improvement of the existing functional base, on the new portal integration with other information systems, such as, for example, NPP ExS will be implemented there is a system as a part of a subsystem of search and data analysis.

According to the magazine of Rosenergoatom, there will also be a possibility of a personal subscription to news and updates of the interesting sections, the search mechanism which will become more "intellectual" will be improved. Also mobile version of the portal with the accessibility on the Internet will be developed.

Main objective of updating of the portal – creation of unified information environment for employees of concern with convenient, modern, adapted, including to mobile devices, the user interface, – quotes the Rosenergoatom magazine of the deputy chief engineer of the Balakovo NPP for technological providing and quality, the curator of the project of Vladimir Knyazkin. – We want to provide each employee with quick, useful and reliable access to corporate materials, services, documents and news.

Will roll a new solution in central office and on the Balakovo NPP. And on project deliverables the decision on replication of the new standard portal on other platforms will be made.

CUBA Platform is the domestic platform with the open code for creation of corporate information systems. According to Oleg Shalnov, the director of the department of IT project management and integration of Rosenergoatom, the choice of the domestic platform for development of a corporate portal is caused by an import substitution trend. CUBA offers modular, scalable architecture on the basis of popular software platforms and is of a lower quality nothing also than functionality to foreign developments, Shalnov considers.
