"Subsidiaries" of Gazprom migrate hundreds of PCs to Linux

In September, 2020 "subsidiary" of Gazprom Gazprom transgaz Surgut is going to sign the delivery contract of the operating system of ALT Linux and services in its implementation and technical support, follows from information placed on the official portal of state procurements^[1] Are specified by project tasks in the technical project conducting software testing in the current infrastructure of the company and transfer of a part of the automated jobs and a part of services of system and technical infrastructure to use of domestic software.

Gazprom transgaz Surgut within the decision on transition to primary use of domestic software which is earlier made by Gazprom in pursuance of directives of the Russian government, said in the technical project does it.

In the same place it is specified that the company within the project is going to migrate for ALT Linux of 728 automated jobs with transfer to this OS of e-mail clients of users and also to implement it on 20 servers. The company is going to complete delivery and implementation of the Russian OS in the specified volume until the end of December of the 2020th.

In total system and technical infrastructure Gazprom transgaz Surgut includes more than 600 servers, and the system of e-mail services more than 4 thousand mailboxes, follows from the technical project. Jobs function running Microsoft Windows 7 Pro OS. By the way, Microsoft stopped support of Windows 7 OS in January, 2020.

In July and August competitive selection electronically on delivery of Linux OS was made also by other "subsidiary" of Gazprom – Gazprom dobycha Yamburg^[2]. It until the end of 2020 needs to deliver 737 licenses Astra Linux OS for the automated jobs and 28 for servers.

And in May and June of Astra Linux also bought Gazprom dobycha Noyabrsk, however, in smaller volume: 70 licenses for workstations and 28 for^[3] Then licenses of Astra Linux for the small amount Krasnodar"^[4] bought and "Gazprom Transgaz].

On the same day the Board of Directors of Gazprom approved the actions plan of transition of the company to primary use of the domestic software.
