2019: Supply of equipment for upgrade of steam electric power station of Hiep Phuoc 1 in Ho Chi Minh
The Siemens company announced on November 21, 2019 that it will supply the equipment for upgrade of steam electric power station of Hiep Phuoc 1 in Ho Chi Minh (Vietnam) and its transition to the combined cycle.
It is expected that this project will allow to increase power of the power plant approximately by 780–1200 MW. The upgraded power plant will use the regasified LNG instead of the used oil. By estimation, fuel replacement, installation of modern gas turbines of the F class of production of Siemens and heat utilization of the leaving gases of gas turbines for electricity generation will allow to cut almost by half emissions of CO2 on each kWh made on an object. This project will give to the customer of Hiep Phuoc Power Co. Ltd. an opportunity to provide safe and environmentally friendly power supply of Ho Chi Minh and Vietnam.
The delivery scope of Siemens includes three gas turbines SGT5-4000F, three generators, three boilers utilizers, the corresponding electric equipment and a management system of SPPA-T3000. After upgrade of power plant warmly the exhaust of gas turbines will be used for steam generation. The received steam will be applied to operation of the existing steam turbines and generators for electricity generation. Repeated commissioning of the upgraded power plant is planned for 2022.
For satisfaction of a current demand in the electric power in Vietnam Hiep Phuoc Power Co company. Ltd. will be able to provide to the middle of 2021 about 520 MW of power for power supply system due to work in an open cycle.
