On November 9, 2020, NVIDIA and Hyundai Motor Group announced that starting in 2022, the entire line of Hyundai, Kia and Genesis cars will be standard equipped with on-board infotainment systems (IVI) based on the NVIDIA DRIVE platform. All cars, from entry level to premium class, will have a rich software-defined user interface with artificial intelligence, which will be constantly updated.
Recent breakthroughs in artificial intelligence and accelerated computing have opened the door for next-generation cars and trucks, when new features, capabilities, and enhanced security features can be added after a car is purchased. Thanks to a centralized software-defined computing architecture, cars of the future will be able to constantly update the functions of artificial intelligence.
For Hyundai Motor Group, the use of the high-performance and energy-efficient NVIDIA DRIVE platform as a standard for future models allows you to constantly improve the user experience based on AI in the car. NVIDIA DRIVE includes programmatically a hardware stack that endows Hyundai, Kia and Genesis IVI systems with audio, video, navigation capabilities, communications and AI-based services for. the connected cars
| At Hyundai Motor Group, we aim to ensure the high value, safety, functionality and pleasure of the car throughout its service life. The NVIDIA DRIVE platform has already been tested - it is scalable, energy efficient and has the performance needed to support our next generation of software-defined transport tools, - says Paul Choo, senior vice president of electronics technology at Hyundai Motor Group |
Hyundai Motor Group has been cooperating with NVIDIA since 2015, when the Genesis GV80 and G80 models received a modern IVI system based on NVIDIA DRIVE. The companies are also working together on an improved digital dashboard, the release of which is scheduled for the end of 2021. Today's announcement expands cooperation with Hyundai Motor Group and introduces the NVIDIA DRIVE platform into the entire fleet of vehicles, which indicates the automaker's desire to integrate opportunities to support future applications and functions.
| NVIDIA added consumer electronics functionality and a rich graphical user interface to infotainment systems more than a decade ago. Now we are changing these systems again, now with the help of artificial intelligence, and we are helping Hyundai Motor Group to increase the safety, value and satisfaction of customers throughout the life of the car, - said Ali Kani, NVIDIA Vice President of Autonomous Vehicles |
NVIDIA will help Hyundai Motor Group deploy a new operating system for connected cars (ccOS) in future models. The ccOS OS, developed by Hyundai Motor Group, will combine a large amount of data generated by the car with its sensor network and external connected automotive data centers to provide more pleasant and convenient opportunities for drivers and passengers.
ccOS also includes the integrated architecture for the platform of service of the connected cars (ccSP) which represents the open platform allowing a wide range of partners to provide the corresponding services to owners.
Hyundai Motor Group will provide more information about the new IVI and ccOS capabilities in future car announcements.
