The ABB delta robot helps L'Oréal increase production efficiency. This was announced on May 13, 2021 by the developer of the robot. The project was completed by Fructonad Group.

The use of the filling machine together with the industrial robot IRB 360 FlexPicker allowed L'Oréal to double the productivity of the line for the production of hair cream paint at the plant in the Kaluga region.

Due to the use of an industrial robot, the company was able to significantly accelerate the process of transferring tubes with hair cream paint from the installed filling machine to cardboard equipment packaging cosmetic products. Modernization of the storage machine and styling solution allowed the plant to double the productivity of the line for the production of hair cream paint.

Each minute 130 tubes of hair cream paint are fed into the IRB 360 FlexPicker work area via two supply conveyors. A delta robot with a high laying and sorting speed, using a vacuum grip specially developed for this project by Fructonad Group engineers, takes two tubes from conveyor belts and puts them in the cells of a cardboard machine. IRB 360 FlexPicker moves a unit of production in less than a second, performing 65 cycles of operations per minute. Due to the real-time conveyor tracking system, the delta robot accurately detects and fills only free cells. To do this, the robot does not need a vision system, the implementation of which would require additional costs from the enterprise.

In addition to the IRB 360 FlexPicker, another industrial robot ABB - IRB 2600 - was installed at the Kaluga factory of L'Oréal. This compact model with high load capacity is responsible for the rapid loading of empty tubes into the filling machine.

During the planned modernization of the plant's equipment, we installed another filling machine, the productivity of which is twice as high as that of the old model. Since the previous equipment responsible for moving the tubes would not have been able to cope with such a speed of the filling machine, we considered the possibility of installing a robot in this area. We have chosen the ABB delta robot solution, which is compact, easy to install and service. Thus, during the upgrade, we were able not only to increase performance, but also to optimize the timing of its implementation, as well as reduce the operational costs of servicing the line in the future.
