2021: Completion of the construction of the backup data center for 320 square meters. m
On April 14, 2021, Metalloinvest announced the completion of the construction of a reserve data center (RDPC). The project, commissioned by the manufacturer of iron ore products and hot briquette iron, was implemented by the Talmer system integrator. The financial terms of the contract are not disclosed.
A new data center with an area of about 320 square meters. m was built on Lebedinsky GOK (part of the Metalloinvest company) in the city of Gubkin. It includes the following rooms:
- equipment room with the system of separation of "cold" and "hot" corridors into 22 racks with the possibility of scaling up to 33 racks;
- electropanel board;
- separate room for assembly and testing of equipment.
A complete two-transformer substation, a PRAMAC diesel generator unit with a reserve capacity of up to 0.56 MW and remote capacitors of precision air conditioners were placed on the external site.
IT equipment in the data center can run autonomously for more than four hours. Fire alarm and automatic gas fire extinguishing systems are installed there. The entire engineering infrastructure is controlled by an automated control system.
It is noted that the installed structured cable system (SKS) allows you to quickly and without significant costs connect the installed IT equipment to the customer's corporate network. During the installation of the SCS, more than 3400 optical, copper switching cords and cable assemblies were installed, with a total length of more than 8 km. More than 15 km of low-current cable is extended to connect all DPC engineering systems.

2018: Building a highly loaded computing complex
On December 4, 2018, Talmer announced the completion of a large-scale project to build a highly loaded computing complex for Metalloinvest. The project resulted in a fault-tolerant and high-performance infrastructure solution.
In February 2018, Talmer specialists built a data center in Stary Oskol. On the basis of the built data center, the IT infrastructure was deployed to launch the complex of systems and databases SAP S/4HANA.
As part of the design work, Talmer specialists have developed specifications for technological solutions, delivered equipment and system software, implemented and integrated the platform for working with the SAP S/4HANA application, developed a network architecture for creating a common information environment and ensured functional interaction of data center equipment.
When implementing the project, the customer put forward strict requirements for indicators of fault tolerance and system availability dictated by the specifics of the work processes of a large mining and metallurgical company.
In accordance with these requirements, the IT company JSA Group, the center of competence of Metalloinvest in information technology, designed and implemented the technical architecture of SAP systems. The key features of the solution were:
- the latest release of S/4HANA 1709;
- SUBDHANA 2.0;
- Using the SAP HANA Tailored Datacenter Integration (TDI) DBMS deployment model
- IBM Power 8 platform;
- operating system RedHat.
To ensure tiered fault tolerance, synchronous replication at the level is used, SAP HANA servers applications platform mechanisms are used for protection, virtualizations at the level (backup systems RB) cross-replication of copies with the ability to work on a backup instance of the RB in case of failure of the main node.
The operating system for building IT infrastructure was Red Hat Enterprise Linux for SAP Solutions. The choice of this operating system was due to several advantages: certification by SAP SE for use with the HANA 2.0 DBMS on IBM Power 8 family servers, unification of existing customer expertise, active participation of the Russian Red Hat representative office in the project.

During the project, Talmer put into practice expertise on the design and implementation of a Cisco ACI local area network based on the Nexus 9K switch and hardware controllers. At the heart of the Cisco ACI solution is end-to-end virtualization with manageability and automation, where application interaction logic is based on configurable policies - logical representations of all application elements and their interaction with each other. Using this technology allows you to automate application deployment and allows applications to program the network "for themselves," providing flexibility in software configuration and hardware scalability.
A feature of the implementation of ACI in the project was the use of Multi-POD technology. This solution made it possible to create a single network infrastructure for geographically distributed sites. DPC The principle of a single structure and control of data traffic for two factories is preserved at all distributed sites. In normal operation, the factory is a single fully connected network data medium. This network infrastructure has the support and connectivity of thousands of logical entities, tens of thousands of connections and up to a million IPv4 and. The IPv6 hosts project provides extensive infrastructure support cloudy and compatibility with most software manufacturers. The ACI factory remains fully operational when communication between the nodes of the managing APIC cluster is broken. Failure of the control cluster does not stop data transfer between data centers sites. Continuous data transfer and policy implementation occurs even if communication between sites is completely lost. Using this solution, we have created a fault-tolerant and scalable data network.
"The deployment of the Cisco ACI Multi-POD architecture for Metalloinvest made it possible to significantly simplify and automate the procedures for configuring network policies and services that should be available on several sites of the data center at the same time. Using a software-defined approach has led to a significant reduction in operating costs, a decrease in the number of configuration errors that are associated with the human factor. The architecture of ACI Multi-POD made it easier to fit into the data path of service devices that protect the SAP S/4HANA system complex. " |
As a result of the project, the customer received a fault-tolerant and high-performance infrastructure solution, which will ensure the uninterrupted operation of all Metalloinvest information systems, according to Talmer.

2017: Completion of the construction of the data center in Old Oskol
The Talmer company completed in 2017 the construction of the data-processing center (DPC) in Stary Oskol for the Metalloinvest company. As a result of the project, the customer received a modern and reliable data center, as close as possible to Tier3 standards .
The main goal of the project was to deploy a full-scale turnkey data center on the customer's site. The project was implemented as soon as possible - in 6 months.
As part of the design work, Talmer specialists installed all the necessary engineering infrastructure. The power supply system with multiple redundancy allows automatic load switching to the centralized uninterruptible power supply with subsequent introduction of the diesel generator unit. Air conditioning and microclimate control systems are built on the basis of the Liebert precision equipment of Vertiv (Emerson Network Power). Comprehensive security in the data center provides a system of intelligent access to premises and equipment. In addition, integrated video surveillance and automatic gas fire extinguishing systems are installed in the data center.
The application of the concept of "cold corridors" made it possible to use high-density computing equipment and place energy-intensive Hi-End servers in the data center.
The Automated Dispatch Control System (ASDU) allows you to monitor the operation of the entire engineering infrastructure of the data center. Automated control of microclimate parameters and equipment condition significantly reduces operating costs and increases reliability.
The total area of the new data center is more than 300 m2. The complex of data center premises includes: control room, telecommunication server room, server room with two cold corridor modules to accommodate standard server equipment. The modularity of the data center design allows you to scale its capacity. The maximum power consumption of equipment located in the data center can reach 0.4MW.
During the project, more than 5 km of fiber-optic communication lines, up to 4 km of power supply cables were additionally installed, the supply package transformer substation was completely replaced with a new, twice as powerful one. All power inputs have been updated and remote control panels (telemechanics) have been installed.

The new data center will also be used by the Oskol Electrometallurgical Plant (OEMC) and provide the needs of many other centralized information systems of the company. "
