Elecard implemented broadcasting of TV in trains of Moscow Metro

On January 21, 2020 the Elecard company announced participation in the large-scale project on preparation of content and the organization of broadcasting of 12 TV channels in passenger structures of the Moscow subway.

The Moscow Metro is a basis of the transport system of Moscow. It consists of 15 lines of the subway with 269 stations on which more than 12 thousand trains are daily missed. In cars of the capital subway 6200 video screens which broadcast TV channels, information rollers, advertizing are installed. Monitors are expected large audience: daily 7 million people use the subway.

Elecard companies, Softlab-NSK both Stream Labs developed and implemented programmatically-hardware a complex for preparation, broadcasting and monitoring of TV of channels in subway trains on 12 lines of the subway. This solution works based on the program transcoder Elecard CodecWorks and high density servers. CodecWorks supports the H.265/HEVC format that is especially important in this project as in the rolling stock capacity of a communication channel is limited. HEVC allows to broadcast video of higher quality at the expense of a bigger compression ratio, unlike the AVC format. The complex guarantees stable broadcasting as includes reservation of all components of a system. If there is an error, the scheme automatically passes to a reserve source, and the viewer will not notice failure.

StreamLabs provided the solution for monitoring of a head-end. For implementation pleynut systems technologies of the company Softlab-NSK were used. The solution provides broadcasting of targeted advertizing with accurate accounting of existence and duration of advertizing content. For each line the playlist with a certain set of information and advertizing filmlets is prepared. The complex is integrated with external systems of delivery of advertizing content.

We were faced by a task to organize broadcasting of targeted advertizing media content in Moscow Metro. We addressed to Elecard company to provide the solution of a qualitative program component. As a result the implemented solution allows not only to broadcast advertizing filmlets, but also to carry out broadcast of sporting and cultural events.
